GWIN Announcement: You Can Now Submit Your Damage Report Online

INDIANAPOLIS - The Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS) today made it easier to report property damage caused by storms earlier this week. Hoosiers may now report their damage via the IDHS web site at www.in.gov/dhs.IDHS is gathering the information to strengthen the state's application for federal disaster assistance. The damage reports will identify what areas damage assessment teams need to be sent and help to justify the need for disaster assistance.

Hoosiers are also reminded of the IDHS Damage Assessment Hotline (888-335-9490) in which they can report damage. The call center is staffed from 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. EST Monday-Friday by the Indiana Office of Faith Based and Community Initiatives.
Those reporting damage will be asked for their name, address, phone number, type damage sustained and the date the damage occurred. Losses can include structural damage to homes and loss of personal property. Individuals will not be in conversation with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Information from both sources will be used to help local emergency management agencies and the Indiana Department of Homeland Security preliminarily assess damage to determine if federal assistance can be pursued.

Anyone who has already reported damage via the IDHS Damage Assessment Hotline, (888) 335-9490, does not need to complete the online report.

THIS REPORT IS NOT AN APPLICATION FOR ANY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
Be sure to consult your local permitting official before starting any repairs!
